In response to the request of the Principal of Vavuniya Poovarasankulam Maha Vidyalayam, the Vavuniya District Chess Association conducted an introductory session on chess for the school students. With the support of generous sponsors, five chess boards were handed over to the school's chess coordinator in the presence of the Principal.
Additionally, the Principal has kindly arranged for the school library to be used as a space for students to play chess during their free periods, further encouraging their engagement with the game.
Guidance was also provided to the school’s chess coordinator on how to officially register the school with the Sri Lanka School Chess Association (SLSCA) and on the steps to establish a formal school chess club.
